A Sweet & Savory Summer

Local Tomatoes, Padron peppers, Fresh garlic, Cucumbers, Blueberries, Blackberries, Peaches, Robada apricots, Gooseberries & Strawberries all at Rubinette Right now!

Hello, officially, to summer and the tasty, tantalizing spread this season serves! It's an incredible time of year to cook, or simply "prepare," when the mercury keeps rising.

Craveable, luscious, sweet summer fruit is on the menu! Robada apricots are the very best variety we have ever tasted. Juicy, tangy, super sweet, and slightly floral, ruby red-kissed Robadas are delicious eaten fresh and make a heck of a jam. Rainer and Red cherries are also plentiful for picnicking and pie-making, and couldn't be tastier. There's still plenty of strawberries to be had, as well as a steady stream of berries, including classics like Raspberries, Blackberries, and specialty types like Tayberries. And watch for the waterfall of Blueberries. Expected any day now, the first local Yellow Peaches of the summer!

If you're seeking savory, there's something sumptuous (and locally grown!) everywhere you look. Hefty Heirlooms and sweet Sungolds have kicked off tomato season, and we're relishing their arrival. Aromatic Basil enhances savory and sweet dishes. Keep an eye out for tasty Thai and pretty purple Opal basil, too! Poppable Padrones hint that more peppers are incoming. Fresh Garlic and Garlic Scapes are two tasty ways to enjoy the whole plant. Love Summer Squash (and have a Puntarelle cutter - aka Tagliapuntarelle)? Here's a great idea for snackable zukes!

Jump in a lake! Stay out past bedtime! Gobble up all the great local fruit and veg you can! It's SUMMER!

Bountiful Local Berries

It's a great time of year to be a local berry lover! Look beyond Raspberries and Blueberries (though grab some of those, too) to explore Loganberries, Tayberries, and Gooseberries. At Rubinette, we encourage you to try before you buy, so sample some to find your favorite. A pint of Marionberries is a must-have summer treat. Just around the corner, Mulberries, Columbia Giant blackberries, and Boysenberries. And thanks to our local farmers, you can enjoy Strawberries all summer.
