We follow the seasons, look for unique varietals and take small lots of new, unusual and flavor-forward produce from local farms - and beyond. You will always find something new to discover, but you won't always find the same thing twice. Working with small, dedicated farmers means that we get the best, but we only get it until it's gone.

What to Eat Now: A Sweet & Savory Summer

Hello, officially, to summer and the tasty, tantalizing spread this season serves! It's an incredible time of year to cook, or simply "prepare," when the mercury keeps rising.

Craveable, luscious, sweet summer fruit is on the menu! Robada apricots are the very best variety we have ever tasted. Juicy, tangy, super sweet, and slightly floral, ruby red-kissed Robadas are delicious eaten fresh and make a heck of a jam. Rainer and Red cherries are also plentiful for picnicking and pie-making, and couldn't be tastier. There's still plenty of strawberries to be had, as well as a steady stream of berries, including classics like Raspberries, Blackberries, and specialty types like Tayberries. And watch for the waterfall of Blueberries. Expected any day now, the first local Yellow Peaches of the summer!

If you're seeking savory, there's something sumptuous (and locally grown!) everywhere you look. Hefty Heirlooms and sweet Sungolds have kicked off tomato season, and we're relishing their arrival. Aromatic Basil enhances savory and sweet dishes. Keep an eye out for tasty Thai and pretty purple Opal basil, too! Poppable Padrones hint that more peppers are incoming.
Fresh Garlic and Garlic Scapes are two tasty ways to enjoy the whole plant. Love Summer Squash (and have a Puntarelle cutter - aka Tagliapuntarelle)? Here's a great idea for snackable zukes!

Jump in a lake! Stay out past bedtime! Gobble up all the great local fruit and veg you can! It's SUMMER!

You don’t have to look far outside of Portland to find some of the country’s most outstanding growers. At Rubinette, we seek out conscientious, dedicated and innovative farmers that - like us! - are small, nimble and always looking for that next great variety.

Representing only a fraction of the farms we work with through out the year, the four farms below feature some of the outstanding people and business models that make the landscape of our local, small-scale agriculture community so vibrant: A succession story, a women owned farm, an early organic adopter, and a cooperative model.

Eloisa Organic Farm

After 25 years of working the land at Spring Hill Organic Farm, Virginia Herrera and Zenon Ramirez made their dream come true and became owners of part of the historic organic farm in Albany, Oregon. Originally from the village of Asuncion Atoyaquillo, Oaxaca, Virginia and Zenon have become well-loved in the region.

Fiddlehead Farm

Fiddlehead Farm is a women owned and operated farm, growing over 200 varieties of vegetables in Corbett, OR. Led by farmers Tanye and Katie, Fiddlehead Farm delivers vibrant chards and practically perfect greens every time, making their orders one of our favorite times of the week!

Gathering Together Farm

At Rubinette we often say that the ground at Gathering Together Farm must be sprinkled with fairy dust, because everything they grow is delicious! This Philomath farm, founded in 1987, grows over 50 different types of vegetables of over 300 different varieties, and we'll take everything we can get our hands on!

Our Table Cooperative

Our Table Cooperative is a little bit of everything: a farm, a gathering place, a kitchen and a watershed restoration site. Founder Narendra Varma has created a space that nourishes the body and the earth. We count on Our Table to bring us delicious blueberries, unique dressings, and a range of sustainable vegetables.

Lovingly Curated Product

Rubinette is thrilled to mark our 10th year (Feb. 2026) of offering the best, local and sustainable produce to Portlanders! Owner, founder and fruit-obsessive Josh Alsberg is a 23-year veteran of Portland produce. Alsberg started at the bottom of the fruit pile as a clerk at one of New Seasons Market’s first locations. He then spent 5 years at the helm of Food Front Co-Operative Grocery’s produce department, building close and lasting relationships with small farmers across Oregon and along the west coast. Now, via Rubinette Produce Market, Josh shares what he loves and loves what he does.
